Designed with my sister, this project was an exciting and interesting experiment. The idea spent a while in the pipeline before I got the opportunity to start on it. We were in the process of expanding and digging out at the workshop so it was perfect timing to move the dropsaw away while the workshop was out of action. It turned out a lot more demanding than I had imagined, basically measuring and making up as I went along. I found myself sitting back wondering how I was going to do the next part, or waking up on a sunday morning figuring out in my head how I was going to do the next bit.
It is to fill a space that was previously minor storage. It opens up the area and creates a nice entry feature as well as display shelf. Vertical timber battens along the stairwell also act as a slight barrier going up and down the stairs.
Adding some simple mood lighting above the shelf adds a really nice touch to light the entry area.
A rewarding project to look back on as Ive never taken on something like this. Was a good experience to have a space to design to and experiment.
